Appventuring needs background location solely to record your continuous adventure track while your phone is in your pocket or backpack with the screen locked. Location data is saved directly to your device's local SQLite database and never uploaded to any server.
Go to your Android system Settings → Apps → Appventuring → Battery, and select 'Unrestricted'. Some device manufacturers (Samsung, Xiaomi, OnePlus) aggressively terminate background processes unless battery optimization is disabled for the app.
You can export any adventure or all journeys from the app settings as standard GPX or JSON archive files. These files are saved to your phone's Files app or whichever storage location you choose.
No. Your paths, timestamps, coordinates, and photos remain 100% on your device. The only network calls made are optional reverse-geocoding (to name places) and Open-Meteo weather lookups, both of which can be turned off in Settings.
